Purple Butterflies

Hello friends,

Well, it's a new week and a great time to talk more about salvation!

Last week we talked about the first step to salvation: understanding the gospel.

This week we're going to dive into the second step: believing.

In Romans 10:9 it says:
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead; thou shalt be saved." (KJV)
So, after understanding the gospel, you've got to believe it! More specifically from the verse it says to believe that Jesus rose from the dead. This is important because there's plenty of people who believe that Jesus lived. But to believe that He really did rise from the grave would require faith - and without faith it's impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

And something else I wanted to mention here; it says to "believe in thine heart". Salvation is a heart decision, not a head decision. I'm not saying the head isn't involved or that we just have blind faith (because we certainly don't!). I'm saying that just having knowledge about God doesn't guarantee salvation. You've got to let the gospel transform you! (From the inside, out!)

Disclaimer: I'm not promoting Lordship salvation which says that there's no way you can be saved if you're not living a godly lifestyle or if you don't have God first in your life. We all mess up sometimes in this thing called life. There's definitely no way you can lose your salvation based on whether you're living a godly life or not. Once you're in, you're in for good!

So, belief is the second step. There's one more step that I can see from the above verse that we'll get to talk about next time! Stay tuned...

P.S. this is completely unrelated but I thought I'd share this with you because it's kinda cool. This week is World Doula Week! And since I've recently become a doula it seems fitting that I would mention it :) #worlddoulaweek #doulasbenefiteveryone
